EAAs are essential for muscle retention as we age

EAAs are Essential for Bodies as They Age.

Let's start with the basics: EAAs. Essential Amino Acids earn that name for a reason. Your body can synthesise 11 of the 20 amino acids that make up protein. The other nine have to come from your diet. No shortcuts or workarounds. Hence 'essential'.

So that's the foundation. Here's where it gets interesting.

A recent study looked at three groups: women over 50 who resistance trained, women who supplemented with EAAs, and women who did both. The findings were pretty clear. Only the combined group showed a meaningful shift. This group saw their bodies became more inclined to build muscle than break it down. Interestingly they also saw a reduction in inflammatory markers.

(Inflammation, incidentally, seems to be shaping up to be one of the more significant conversations in health right now. It feels like it might be one of the great unlocks, but let's see, it's worth watching.)

Our PROTEIN block contains just over 10g of EAAs, close to the 11g dose used in the trial. Alongside the EAAs you're already getting from food, we think that's a solid foundation.

The study focused on older bodies because that's where the stakes (see how we avoided the 'steaks' protein pun...) are highest. Protein processing efficiency naturally declines with age, which means good interventions carry more weight. But the principle, that movement and smart nutrition compound, applies at any stage.

Though we found this good overview. that for most folks. will be a better read.
