The Inescapable Testosterone

Wondering what all the testosterone chat is about? We have a link.

The Inescapable Testosterone

If you're male and take any passing interest in the area of health and wellness you'll have been hearing discussions of testosterone for years. It started as a fringe interest that seemed to split out from the body building scene. But in the past couple of years it's become something of a constant conversation.

Helped along by the MAHA movement, and now by a Pentagon policy making annual testosterone screening mandatory for US service members over 30. It's an area that seems to split opinion, so it's also hard to find well researched, balanced overviews.

The article we'll link to makes a good job of explaining why and where this schism appears. As with seemingly everything else, health and wellness has picked up a political charge it didn't used to carry, and you'll probably recognize the types of people and motivations in this NYT Mag article.

It's a decent length, has plenty of sources and takes an even-handed approach to the subject. From the origins of testosterone supplementation to the current vogue for TRT via interviews with doctors and users. If you're looking for some background on the subject, it's an interesting overview.

The entire health and wellness space has changed drastically as it's become more mainstream and then more political.  We're probably never going back to the heavy bits of metal and a protein powder with a bodybuilder on it.
